Born: September 5, 1946, in Tadworth, Surrey
After graduating in 1969 from Goldsmiths College, where she studied Fine Art, Margaret Howell started designing men's shirts in her own studio. Her first menswear shop opened its doors in 1977, with a women's store following in 1980. Ten years on she had over 50 outlets in Japan and the UK.
In 2007 Margaret, who made her London Fashion Week debut in 1995, was awarded a CBE for her services to the retail industry in recognition of her achievements in fashion design.
She describes her look as relaxed and lived-in, with special attention paid to the quality of fabric and detailing.
This year's collection is inspired by details from a gentleman's wardrobe, explored through monogrammed shirts, evening scarves with tassels and rose pink silk.
