Born: December 12, 1959, in London
Designing is in Jasper Conran's blood - his father, Sir Terence Conran, is the brainchild behind Habitat. He set his sights on a career in fashion at an early age, and by the time he was 19 he'd earned a degree in design from Parsons School of Design in New York, worked for Fiorucci in the US, Wallis in London, and debuted his first eponymously titled collection.
His signature black and white creations were commercially successful from the word go and during three decades in the business he has applied the winning formula to designs for menswear, womenswear, fragrance, furniture and homeware, including collaborations with Wedgwood and Waterford crystal.
Dubbed a 'classicist' by the British Design Council, which named him British Designer Of The Year in 1986, Jasper is also passionate about his classic car collection, which he houses in a huge double garage at his £7 million stately home in Chiswick.
