Born: 1977 in Montreal, Canada
The son of a Turkish father and a British mother, Erdem Moralioglu grew up between Montreal and Birmingham. He studied liberal arts before a work placement with Vivienne Westwood opened his eyes to what he really wanted to do.
He trained at the Royal College of Art in London, and after graduating worked for Diane von Furstenberg in New York. He launched his own label Erdem in 2005.
The £100,000 Fashion Fringe prize won by his imaginative debut collection enabled him to develop his creative talents into a real business. Since then Tilda Swinton, Nicole Ritchie and Claudia Schiffer have been spotted in his elegant creations.
Inspired by prints and textiles, Erdem's work brings together influences from the many countries and cultures he visited with his family as a child.
