Born: 1974 in Birmingham
London-based designer Osman Yousefzada's journey into fashion took an unusual route. The Cambridge graduate started out life as a banker in the City before being seduced by his creative calling. The transition from the world of finance to fashion seems a natural one to Osman. "I don’t really see it as having a career change," says the designer, who is a firm favourite of Kate Moss. "Everything that I did before has been part of a journey to where I want to be. I always wanted to create and make clothes from an early age."
After studying at St Martins he made his debut with a collection inspired by his Afghan heritage. Osman's approach is multi-cultural, however. "I think my designs are very much a product of Great Britain: a fusion of cultures, which combines to create something intellectual, modern and yet still wearable," he explains.
