Born: 1977 in Belgrade, Bosnia
Roksanda Ilinic's interest in fashion was sparked when, as a child, she watched her style-conscious, pharmaceutical PR mum dress for an evening out.
In the early Nineties, against a background of the Bosnian-Serbian war, she studied towards a BA at Belgrade's University of Arts. There was no central heating in the building and she often ended up carrying a hot water bottle with her under her jacket to stay warm.
After reading about Central Saint Martins in The Face magazine, she travelled to the British capital to find out more. She won a place on the MA course and graduated in 2002.
Since then she has made her mark in the London fashion world, three times winning sponsorship from the Topshop New Generation scheme as well as a British Fashion Council New Designer award nomination.
Roksanda lives in London with her husband, Phil Bueno del Mesquita, the founder of trainer brand Acupuncture.
