'I'm not making Kate's dress,' says Vivienne at royal themed presentation

Vivienne Westwood quashed speculation that Kate Middleton has turned to her for a bridal gown.

"She's definitely not going to get it from me, or I would have heard,"  said the designer.

The grande dame of British fashion even suggested her creations might be too fashion-forward for Kate, who is known for her classic tastes.

"I would have loved to have dressed Kate Middleton but I have to wait until she kind of catches up a bit somewhere with style."

Vivienne was speaking at the presentation of her Red Label Autumn/Winter 2011 collection as part of London fashion week.

The collection was a homage to "the idea of the Royal Family, but somehow, all seen in this very Alice in Wonderland way".

Crowns topped off several pieces, injecting a sense of whimsical fun into the proceedings.

As usual, the show gathered an eclectic crowd, from Boris Becker, accompanied by his son Noah who, at 17, is looking quite the young man, to Tracy Emin, who said how much she loved the collection.

Other supporters included newly-brunette Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding, accompanied by bandmate Nicole Roberts.

Doctor Who actor Matt Smith was also sitting front row ready to watch girlfriend Daisy Lowe take to the catwalk.

The regal yet fairytale theme, combining crowns with birdnest hairstyles and pinstriped suits, injectied a sense of whimsical fun into the proceedings.

Mulberry also showed on Sunday, offering up a collection inspired by Roald Dahl tale Fanastic Mr Fox, featuring flamboyant fur coats.
