Backstage beauty files: Beach-bronzed babes at Topshop

Topshop Unique officially marked the return of the statement tan with their show at London Fashion Week.

Tanning brand St Tropez worked non-stop backstage to give the models a rich, caramel hue perfectly suited to the well-travelled girl who knows how to party.

"This uber-cool globetrotter has been travelling the world, collection souvenirs as she goes and developing the lived-in tan of someone who's spent day after day lapping up the sunshine," said Nichola Joss, St Tropez's Global Taning and Skin Finishing Expert.

Here's how you can recreate the look at home.

  • Step 1: Prep the skin with the St. Tropez Prep & Maintain Tan Enhancing Body Moisturiser to add a layer of hydration to help achieve that dewy finish.
  • Step 2: Mist over the face and body with three sheer coats of the new St Tropez Instant Tan Wash Off Face & Body Spray until a deep dark bronze is achieved.
  • Step 3: Wait to dry for a few minutes and then add a final layer if desired to deepen the tone of the tan.

St Tropez also worked at the House of Holland show to give the models a deep, dark dewy colour that oozed an East L.A. girl gang vibe.

"Wearing pink, purple, flicks of neon and full-on hair and nails, Henry's bad ass girl has bypassed 'natural' and gone for broke with a coffee coloured tan that's proud to be fake," said Nichola.

At Mary Katrantzou, skin took a sumptuous turn with a super luxe, decadent finish created using a groundbreaking new product to deliver a bespoke, bejewelled tan.

"Mary's woman this season is a sophisticated, jet-setting heiress," said Nichola. "To complement the elegant SS14 collection and its opulent embellishments, we added a breath of colour to the skin and topped it off with a brand new shimmering golden oil for an expensive and glossy finish."
